Mary Ann Beckwith, has taught watercolor, drawing and design at Michigan Technological University helping engineers- and scientists-to-be exercise both sides of their brains since 1973. Ms. Beckwith received the university's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996 and again in 2003. She was also a finalist in 1997 and 2000.

She is a full time watercolor artist and revels in sharing her tried and true methods of painting as well as her explorations into uncharted territories. Mary Ann's book, Creative Watercolor: A Step by Step Guide and Showcase (1996) was sold in this country and recently translated for the Japanese market. She has taught her workshop on "Experimental Watercolor" throughout this country and in Canada. In 1996 she traveled to Korea where she taught watercolor techniques at Seoul National University and at Kon Ku University.

Recently inducted into the National Watercolor Society, she is a signature member of the Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Midwest Watercolor Societies and is a Nautilus Fellow in the Society of Experimental Artists. She has served as president and National Show chair for the Midwest Watercolor Society. She has also served as a judge in shows around the country.
