Grading:

Text Exams on WebCT
66 points possible
Each class member will be examined on the chapters of the text. You will have one window during the day and evening to take a quiz: from 10 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next day. You will have no more than 20 minutes to answer 33 multiple choice questions. You will have the opportunity to take each exam 3 times. Your highest score will be recorded. The address to log into WebCT is:
http://courses.mtu.edu
In-Class Exams:
Exam #1, Exam #2, and Final Exam
90 points possible

Three exams will be given for this class. You will take these exams during the class or finals period. No late or early exam will be given. Exams are multiple choice. Thirty points possible each exam.

The material offered in the three lectures titled Toward a Definition of Culture, The Development of Culture, and The Perception of Culture relates to the material for the rest of the class sessions. For this reason:

  • In-Class Exam #1 will cover all material in class before the exam.

  • In-Class Exam #2 will cover material offered in the three lectures before Exam #1, and all material after Exam #1.

  • The Final Exam will cover material offered in the three lectures before Exam #1, and all material after Exam #2.
Cultural
Activities
44 points possible

Each student will be expected to attend the cultural activities. Each cultural activity is worth 4 points possible. Most of the cultural activities are during your Friday class. Three events are scheduled specifically for your World Cultures Activities in the Rozsa Performing Arts Center.

  • WebCT CA Quizzes:
  • Except for the "Cultural Activity Choice," you will be quizzed after each Cultural Activity. The Cultural Activities quizzes are on WebCT. You will have one window during the day and evening to take the quiz: usually from 4 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Monday. You will have no more than 2 minutes to answer the multiple choice questions. Four points possible each quiz.

  • Activity Choice Paper (Optional)

You may choose one, and only one, to count toward your Cultural Activities points. After attending your "Cultural Activity Choice," write a short paper answering a question found under CA Paper Guide on WebCT, attach your program and ticket stub and give it to me. Make sure you specifically address only one question. The number of points depends on the quality of the paper. Typed. Double Spaced. Due the Wednesday after the performance. No late program/papers will be accepted.
