Biography

Nicholas Enz, born in Newton, Kansas, is both an active performer and educator. He graduated from Bethel College (Kansas) with a degree in Music Education. Enz served as Assistant Student Conductor of the Bethel College Sinfonia and was active in numerous musical ensembles. He studied performance and composition under Dr. William Eash, Dr. Donald Kehrberg, Dr. J. Harold Moyer, Daniel Hege, Jean Lansing, Thomas Luer, and Stephen Jones. He has recently performed with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Mike Steinel, Mike Irish, and the Pine Mountain Music Festival Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, Enz was a featured soloist with the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra.

Under Enz’s leadership, the Superior Winds have embarked on three performance tours can be heard on WNMU-FM Marquette, MI. The Huskies Pep Band has been honored twice by the WCHA as the host band for the WCHA Final Five Hockey Tournament. In 2007, the band released their first album, Aural Pleasure.

In 2004, Enz founded the Keweenaw Area Jazz Band, which provides high school students in the Keweenaw Peninsula with an opportunity to study and perform jazz music. Enz has received three MCACA grants to support this project. The band received second place at the 2007 UWEC Jazz Festival.
